Our top tips for selling your home

Estate agents

1. First impressions are important

‘You never have a 2nd chance to make a first impression.’ Most buyers will form their first impression of a property when walking up to the front door. Try to make the property as appealing as possible, plant flowers, get rid of weeds and clear any paths leading up to the front door.

2. De-clutter

Clutter can make homes seem smaller and unorganised. If possible, remove as much clutter as possible from rooms without leaving them empty.

3. Spring Cleaning

After a spring clean your house will smell clean and fresh as well as have that all-important first impression when a potential buyer is viewing. A clean and tidy house should never be underestimated.

 4. Make the property as neutral as possible

Neutral colours will appeal to nearly all buyers as they will be able to put their own stamp on the property. If need be, paint any brightly coloured rooms white, light cream or light colours. Have a look at a show home online for ideas…

5. Do the little jobs you’ve been putting off

You’ve been meaning to fix a kitchen door cupboard or a leaking tap but haven’t got around to it… little jobs like this may put a potential buyer off but can be easily and quickly fixed. Do these before putting your home on the market.
